Additionally, embossed kilim should be "headless," meaning its width should be uniform from start to finish.

The embossed kilim has a weave that most resembles carpets. These kilims are made using the Shirkipich method and colored threads to create embossed patterns. Compared to other types of kilims, embossed kilim has greater complexity and finesse, and it may even be woven from carpet patterns, although it still lacks the finesse of carpet weaving. This type of kilim is recognized as the most advanced and complete form of kilim.

In simple terms, when the art of kilim weaving and carpet weaving are combined to produce a rug, the result is called an embossed kilim. These rugs are essentially part of the kilim family but are different from regular kilims due to the use of carpets in some areas and the presence of a three-dimensional aspect. Ilam Kilim Rugs

Among the materials used in these kilims are wool and cotton threads, readily available in the region for use by tribal artisans. In simple kilim weaving, there is no practical pattern, and the weaver's mental states geometrically shape the patterns on the surface of the kilim. However, in embossed kilim weaving, the use of a pattern is necessary, where color coordination and symmetry of patterns in the weaving significantly impact its artistic value. Additionally, balance must be maintained in this type of kilim, meaning its left and right halves should be symmetrical, and the quality and color stability are also of particular importance.

Ilam Kilim rugs are considered the most important and indicative handicraft industry in this province in terms of authenticity and production. The raw materials for this type of kilim include wool and cotton threads, with cotton threads used for the warp (warp) and wool threads for knots and wefts. In embossed kilim weaving, the background weave is in the form of simple kilim (plain weave), and the embossed patterns are the result of a complete carpet knot (Turkish knot). Lightweight style, high density, color quality, stability, and the use of authentic and indigenous designs are among the prominent features of Ilam Kilim rugs. Sirjan Kilim Rugs

Shirikipich or needle kilims, which have gained fame due to Sirjan, are unlike ordinary kilims, being a knotted weave known as a hybrid between carpet and kilim. The beginning of weaving these kilims dates back to the arrival of Ilats Afshar and Bochaghchi to Kerman during the Safavid period and then during the Afsharid period.

Regarding the naming of these kilims, there are many interpretations; Shirikipich has been interpreted as a horse's saddlebag, which probably refers to its initial use. On the one hand, "twisted weaving" is one of the types of kilim weaving, and on the other hand, "Shirikipich" may refer to the type of knot, which is woven in pairs or in partnership and cooperation of two weavers in its weaving.

Like other types of kilims, these weaves are woven from wool threads, and their warp is similar to that of kilims, with the weave similar to that of carpets. The two main types of knots specific to Sirjan kilims are the text knot and the water knot.
